Mr. John William "Johnny" Sealy, 58, resident of West 12th Street, died Monday, July 26, 2004 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor, Curtis Dowdy and Johnny Mack Young officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, or the American Cancer Society. He was owner and operator of Johnny's Food Market since 1973. He was a lifelong grocer having worked for Bailey Morrow, Doris Lovett and H.G. Hill before owning his own market. In 2003 he was voted Citizen of the Year by Columbia Civitan Club. He served six years in the National Guard and was a member of McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Flowers Sealy of Columbia; one sister, Martha Jane (Donald Lee) Williams of Columbia; a step-brother, Johnny Paisley of Columbia; mother-in-law, Mary Johnson Flowers of Columbia; brother-in-law, John Ray (Regina) Flowers of Hohenwald; 12 nieces and nephews, Libby (David) Heflen of Columbia, Vicky Ann Williams of Lebanon, Tina (Larry) Crews of Huntsville, Alabama, Mary Ruth Walker of Stuart, Florida, Laura (Al) Kerzner of Boca Raton, Florida, Emilie (Calvin) Ruff of Goodlettsville, Mary (James) Williams of Hendersonville, Jacqueline (Lewis) Johnson of Nashville, Carol (Tom) Tidwell of Lyles, Wayne Williams of Columbia, Steven (Jeanette) Williams of Lebanon and Buddy (Martha) Walker of Brentwood, special cousin, Mary Jane Scott of Columbia, and goddaughter, Kristy Scott (Devin) Dean of Primm Springs. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lee Walker and Fannie Mai Davidson. Pallbearers will be Wayne Williams, Steven Williams, David Heflen, Larry Crews, Thomas Scott, Gary Weatherford, Gregg Clendenin and David Ring.
