John Thomas Sharpe John Thomas Sharpe, 70, retired employee of Bell South and resident of Kedron Road, died Friday, February 27, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Cordell Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Mark Odell Sharpe and Mary Elizabeth Inman Sharpe Dowell. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was Past Commander of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, Past Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8, and a member of the VFW. He was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Nell Wyatt of Spring Hill; Teresa (Paul) Ludington of Brockport, New York; Karen (William) McCoy of Darien, Connecticut; one step-son, Thomas (Cathy) Wochna of Culleoka; two sisters, Harriett Bolton and Mary Ann (Travis) Blalock, both of Columbia; brother-in-law, Billy Walker of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and eight nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Cook and Doris Walker; two brothers-in-law, Herc Bolton and Jack Cook; and son-in-law, Ronald Eldon Wyatt. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Telephone Pioneers and American Legion Post 19.
