John Odell Sneed

John Odell "Toby" Sneed, 85, retired journeyman electrician with Electricians' Local #429 and resident of Myers Avenue, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Newell and Bob Murrell officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols.Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 392, Columbia 38402. Army during World War II from 1943 -1946 and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.Mr. Sneed was a long-time active member of Riverside United Methodist Church.Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Irene Herston Sneed of Columbia; three sons, Ronald L. (Mary) Sneed and Larry W. Sneed, both of Columbia, and David Jackson "Jack" (Jane) Sneed of Franklin; three sisters, Estelle Witherspoon and Margie Sweeney of Columbia, and Christine Barlar of Pulaski; two brothers, Bobby H. (Joy) Sneed of Nashville and Donald (Dottie) Sneed of Columbia; three grandchildren, Katie Sneed, Tyler Sneed, and Corey Sneed; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Sneed.Active pallbearers are Pat Troope, James Boyd, Donald Kincaid, David Henson, Billy Wayne Kelly, Everette Renfro, Judge Bobby Sands, and Ray Messick.Honorary pallbearers include the Fellowship Class at Riverside United Methodist Church, members of IBEW Local #429, Ken Lamar, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Dr. Amit Choksi, and Dr. Andrew Sisk.
