View Funeral Webcast Rev. John Stephen Boshers, 54, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. A native of Columbia, he was the only son of W.L. and Juanita Boshers. He was a proud graduate of the Columbia Central High School graduating class of 1983. A public servant and leader, Rev. Boshers was an active member of the local government, a pastor, and a businessman. He was employed as territorial manager of O’Reilly Auto Parts for many years. For the past thirteen years, he proudly served as senior pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy located in Wrigley, Tennessee, a congregation that he loved deeply. He also served as city councilman of Columbia’s 2nd Ward, working to develop further and support the growth of Columbia’s Art District. Rev. Boshers previously served as constable for Maury County for nearly ten years, was a reserve deputy for the Sheriff’s Department, and was a board member of Maury County Chamber and Economic Alliance. Having coached little league for many years, he served as president of the Cal Ripken Baseball League. Rev. Boshers enjoyed hunting with his father and son, supporting the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, spending time with his children, being “Poppy” to his grandchildren, taking his wife on dates, and studying his Bible. He will be remembered as a family man who was loyal to his friends, as well as a man of great faith who impacted countless individuals daily. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lisa Ragsdale Boshers; daughter Kendall Wilhoite and her husband Cameron; daughter Linzy Boshers; son Joseph Boshers; and grandchildren Emersyn and Colson Wilhoite. He also is survived by his parents, W.L. and Juanita Boshers; a sister Michelle Burns; a niece Hannah Burns; and a special nephew Derrick Carroll. The family will receive visitors, Saturday, August 3, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop E.C. McKinley officiating. Visitation and funeral will be held at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with burial following at Polk Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Michael Ray King, Mark King, Terry Clayborn, William Russell, Darrel South, Joe Foster, Scotty Prince, Billy Manier, Steve Mangrum, Eric Sims, Jeff Gillis, Guy Odom, and Jim Moody. Honorary pallbearers include Columbia City Council Members, City Mayor Chaz Molder, Vice Mayor Christa Martin, O’Reilly Auto Employees, Ray Pace, Fire Chief Ty Cobb, Milton Hay, and City Manager Tony Massey.
