View Funeral WebcastJohn Todzonia, 91, retired fabricator for Fleming Sheet Metal and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Doug Williams, 206 Carter's Creek Pike, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Anna and Eli Todzonia. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the U. S. Army Military Police. He was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and a life-member of Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Todzonia was a long-time, faithful member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder for a number of years. He remained active and independent throughout his later years. He was married July 9, 1942 to the former Ernestine Leora Mangrum,. Affectionately known as "Tennie," Mrs. Todzonia preceded him in death January 5, 1994. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Evelyn Graves of Columbia; nieces, Mary Tom (Dan) Watkins, Roseann (Doug) Williams, and Judy (Mitchell) Johns, all of Columbia; nephews, Tim (Oleta) Graves of Lebanon and John (LaDonna) Graves of Old Hickory; several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Elders of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.
