View Video Tribute View Funeral Service John William “J.W.” Campbell, 81, resident of Columbia, died Friday, April 21, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Danny Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 20, 1942 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Felix Campbell and the late Ila Johnson Campbell. For 45 years, Mr. Campbell worked for the Maury County Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He loved his job driving the road grader. Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 4, 1966, Dorothy Sweeney Campbell of Columbia; sons, Jeremy Lee Campbell of Columbia; Jason William (Stacey) Campbell of Columbia; sister, Darlene (Dwight) Groves; grandchildren, William Coy Campbell, Mason Van Campbell, Tanner (Macie) Warf, Taylor (Daniel) Davis, Nicholas Campbell, Emily Campbell; and great grandchildren, Aubrey Warf, Dawson Davis, Oaklyn Davis. Active pallbearers will be Coy Campbell, Mason Campbell, Nicholas Campbell, Jonathon Sweeney, Tanner Warf, and Daniel Davis. Honorary pallbearers include past and present employees of Maury County Highway Department.
