Johnnie Sue Hendrix Slaughter, 74, resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Adam Hendrix and Brenden Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born September 3, 1950 in Columbia, TN, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Hendrix and the late Willie Maude Haskins Hendrix. Mrs. Slaughter enjoyed gardening, shopping, and watching her westerns. She loved her dogs and being outside in the sunshine, and she never met a stranger. Mrs. Slaughter was a fantastic grandmother and above all she cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Cristy Ann (Wayne) Rich of Culleoka, Melisa Sue (Derrick) Harris of Mt. Juliet, and Amanda Jane Smith of Columbia; grandchildren, Ethan Rich, Blake Rich, Brenden Harris, Kyla Harris, and Austin Smith; great-grandchildren, Anna Lee Smith, Sarah Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Lemay; and brother, Jerry Hendrix.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Rich, Ethan Rich, Blake Rich, Derrick Harris, Brenden Harris, and Jon Kelly.
