Johnnie Hoover Spencer

Mr. Johnnie Hoover Spencer, 78, retired engineer for the City of Lewisburg, died Sunday, August 5, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and after 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late John and Maggie Spencer and a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Army. His wife, Shirley Hood Spencer preceded him in death January 1, 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Spencer (Chris) Brown of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Johnny Lee Spencer of Columbia and Charles Wendell Spencer of Leoma; a step-daughter, Patricia Kay Hood of Columbia; grandchildren, Garrett Brown and Isabella Spencer; step-grandchildren, Cassandra Hood, Amanda Hood, and Jessica Hood; brother-in-law, Charles Edward (Chuck) Hood of Louisville, Kentucky; dear family companion, Walderine Benderman of Columbia. Pallbearers are Chris Brown, Jimmy Brown, Trent Prince, Thomas Durham, Jeremy Blalock, and Garrett Brown.
