Joseph Donald "Don" Bratton passed away at his home the age of 86 on June 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jim McEwen officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. He was a long-time member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Don was a farmer of the land where he was born and raised. Don was loved by all that knew him. Above all, he was a family man, cherishing his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Don is survived by his three children; Ronny (Debbie) Bratton, Johnny (Joyce) Bratton, Tim (Patrice) Bratton. Don was a proud grandfather to Kyle (Melissa) Bratton, Kelley (Matthew) Priest, Jason (Sandy) Bratton, Jennifer Bratton, and Lindsey (Jason) Burkhalter. He also greatly adored his great-grandchildren; Madelyn, Garrett, Audrey, Baker, Ellie, and Joseph. He is survived by his sister; Martha Bates. Don was a resident of Williamsport, TN. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Bratton, whom he was married to for 63 years. He is also preceded in death by his parents, G. E. Bratton and Audrey Baker Bratton, and his brothers, William Bratton, McEwen Bratton, and John Rodrick "Rod" Bratton, his twin brother. Pallbearers will be Jason Bratton, Kyle Bratton, Jason Burkhalter, Matthew Priest, Ronnie King, Michael Bates, and Will McEwen.
