Joseph Clifford "Joe" Nance, 74, resident of Southport Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Williamson Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Kersey and David Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Royce Clifford Nance and the late Myrtle Ola Norman Nance. Since 1974, Mr. Nance had owned and operated Nance Body Shop, doing what was his passion, working on cars. He was a member of Halls Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife whom he married July 25, 1959, Carolyn McCollum Nance of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Starlyn (Lee) Bailey of Mt. Pleasant; son, Scotty (Dawn) Nance of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Royce J. Nance of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Kimmie (Matt) Hayes and Devan Nance, both of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren, Waylon Hayes and River Hayes, both of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lucy & Jerry Church of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted chihuahua, Taco. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Nance. Active pallbearers will be Devan Nance, Chance Church, Matt Hayes, Jimmy Mullins, Drew Nance, Mike Mills, and Bennie Collins. Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. Cary Pulliam, Dr. Amit Choksi, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Sally Barr, Earl Pettus, Steve Kirk, Gary Joe King, Raymond Workman, and friends of Nancy Body Shop. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Critical Care Nurses at Williamson Medical Center.
