Joseph V. Soisson, Jr.

Joseph V. Soisson, Jr., Age 78, departed from this world on December 30, 2019. He was the son of the late J. Vincent and Mary Frances Connell Soisson of Pittsburg, PA. Upon graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 1963, Joe joined the US Navy where he earned his wings and flew the S-2 Tracker Anti-Submarine aircraft aboard the USS Yorktown. Following his stint with the Navy, Joe began working for Union Carbide in 1974 eventually settling in Columbia, TN where he lived for the past 39 years. A lifelong Notre Dame fan, he could be heard cheering on the Irish each football Saturday. He followed the stock market and was an acute investor. He relished spending time with his family with good food and wine. Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah Soisson; sons, Mike (Jessica) Soisson of Boynton Beach, FL and Steve (Melanie) Soisson of Perry, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Soisson, Madeline Soisson, and Abigail Soisson; sister, Nancy (Bob) Hawthorne of Lunenburg, VA; and multiple nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted January 4, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 3019 Cayce Lane, Columbia, TN 38401 with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
