Mrs. Thenie Josephine Pullen Howell, 88, former resident of the Mynders Community and retired seamstress at Dixie Manufacturing Company, died Saturday, January 8m 2005 at Alterra Sterling House. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in the McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols and after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 29, Columbia or Hospice of Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Drive, Columbia. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James Ashley Pullen, Sr. and Georgia Burk Pullen. She was a member of the McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Cumberland Presbyterian Women, Mynders Community Club and Mynders FCE. She was married March 4, 1939 to Raymond Howell, He preceded her in death October 20, 1990. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Gene and Adgil Howell of Columbia, Donald Wayne and Jane Howell of Columbia, Norman Burk and Wanda Howell of Pulaski, Douglas Ashley and Janice Howell of Columbia and Gary Morris and Roxanne Howell of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Georgia Crawford of Franklin, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Elizabeth Green, Lillian Erwin and Rose Ella Pullen and 2 brothers, James Ashley Pullen, Jr. and Edgar "Buddy" Pullen. Active pallbearers are Raymond Gene Howell, Jr., David Brandon Howell, Brian Shawn Howell, Brad Alan Howell, Jason Ashley Howell, Ashley Scott Howell, Joseph Christian Howell, Stephen Wayne Morrow, Russell Scott Troope, Joe Steven Stovall and Peyton McClain Robertson. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church and her nephews.
