Born in Covington, Indiana on August 25, 1943, she was the Daughter of the late Robert Dillon and the late Lois Allen Dillon. Joyce was an only child and told wonderful stories about growing up in Indiana. She graduated from Covington High School in 1961 and married Don Hayman. She had two sons and was a very devoted mother to her boys and loved them dearly. She worked as a beautician out of her home salon during the day and worked at the family-owned Tasty Freeze in the evenings. After raising her boys, she left Indiana for a new adventure in Florida, then moved to Tennessee. She enjoyed working in retail, ending her career at Bud’s Wholesale where she met her husband, love of her life and best friend, Larry Alderson. They were married on March 11, 1997 and she was welcomed into the large Alderson Family and quickly became famous for her peanut butter fudge. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, keeping them anytime she was asked. She was a wonderful cook, liked to sew and crochet, but most of all, she LOVED Alabama Football! She was also a big Titans fan. She loved her conversations with her son, Bobby, was proud of her family and displayed pictures of them throughout her home. She was also a longtime member of Bigbyville Methodist Church.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Larry Alderson; her children, Robert “Bobby” Hayman, Kim Alderson, and Keith (Elizabeth) Alderson; grandchildren, Justin Hayman, Serria Hayman, Chris Alderson, Sam Alderson, Abby Alderson; great-grandchild, Austin Hayman; and their sweet dog, Daisy who was her constant companion. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jason Hayman; sister-in-law, Rachel Foster; and niece, Erika Odom.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Thorton, Sam Alderson, Cameron Riggins, Andy Derryberry, Jeff Estes, Keith Alderson, Andy Pinnix, Alan Lindsey, David Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Deana Hall and Tonya Ivy, who blessed them with sweet friendship and meals on Sundays and dear friend, Charlotte Jones. These women were such a blessing.
