Joyce Elaine McMinn Vernon

Mrs. Joyce Elaine McMinn Vernon, 75, retired secretary at Jersey Pride, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at her residence on Bigbyville Road. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Gwin and Arthur Hanes officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Weakley County native was the daughter of the late Percy McMinn and Fern Kennedy McMinn. She was married to James Harold Vernon who preceded her in death on July 26, 1994. Mrs. Vernon was a member of Collegeview Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, John (Rebecca) Vernon of Columbia; one sister, Merry Jon Howell of Columbia; one brother, Joel (Louise) McMinn of Atlanta; and one grandson, Jeffery Harold Vernon of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Todd Howell, Brit Hanes, Brian Hanes, Trent Hanes, Dale Lindsey, David Kincaid, Yancey Smith, and Jonathan Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Collegeview Church of Christ, Stephen Howell, Mike Smith, Roger Toombs, Jimmy Calahan, Mark McBride, and Ricky Harris.
