Julie Dee McCorkle Jones, 83, former resident of Columbia and retired auditor for the Tennessee Department of Mental Health, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin with Rev. A native of South Bend, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ebb Lee McCorkle and Decla Horton McCorkle and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. She was married to Major Thomas Gilliam Jones, long-time coach and instructor at Columbia Military Academy who preceded her in death December 18, 1993. Survivors include daughters, Connie Barrenger of Lewisburg and Vivian Jones of Nashville; son, Thomas Grier (Beth) Jones of Antioch; sisters, Joyce Thams of Michigan, Jo Longshore and Harriett Jean Brown of Dallas, Texas; brother, Jim McCorkle of McMinnville; grandchildren, Billy Bridges, Chip Bridges, Keith Bridges, Carmen Randolph, Robert Randolph, Brittany Jones, and Myracle Jones; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bridges, Brook Bridges, Adoria Randolph, Dyson Duncan, Ray Bridges, and Tabatha Bridges; great-great-grandchildren, Brandon Bridges and Zane Bridges.
