Mrs. Mattie Kathleen Alexander Willeford, 97, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She attended Giles County Schools and was a former employee of Weather Tamer and Publix Shirt Factory. On December 28, 1928 she married Humphrey Eugene Willeford who preceded her in death on October 17, 1995. Mrs. Willeford was a member of Campbell Station Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Buddy) Harris of Columbia, Fran (Alvin) Hayes of Summertown; two sons, Horace (Lenore) Willeford of Culleoka, John (Holly) Willeford of Hampshire; 14 grandchildren, Ken Willeford, Deborah Raia, Karen Woodall, Diane Rosenburg, Sheila Hines, Billy Harris, Brenda Ring, Patricia Hobbs, John Willeford, Jr., Lisa Ann Willeford, Tammy Goad, James Price, William Price and Kathryn Cubine; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Dean Hickman. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Willeford, Billy Harris, Tony Woodall, David Hobbs, Freddie Ring, Tom Rosenburg, Bobby Hines and Sal Raia.
