Kay Foster Tillman

August 20, 1948 — June 3, 2019

Kay Foster Tillman, 70, resident of Culleoka, a majorette and 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School, a member of the Church of Christ, and retired employee of CPS Industries, went to be with our Lord surrounded by her family, Monday, June 3, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.   Born August 20, 1948 in Maury County, Kay is the daughter of Katie Sue Pinkston Foster of Columbia and the late Robert Allen Foster, Jr. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Wallace Kirk Tillman of Culleoka; her daughter, Kimberly Kirk Tillman of Tioga, Texas; sisters, Valerie Carter (Dr. Wayne) Tipps of Lookout Mountain, Nancy Foster (Michael) Hunter of  Columbia; sister-in-law, Rosemary Tillman (John) Stites of Cookeville; nieces and nephews, Patrick Hunter, Allen Carter, Emily Hunter Montgomery, Bill Hunter, Kelly Stites Shewmaker, Jonathan Stites, David Stites, Ben Stites, and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.   Kay was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing and selfless mother, a genuine friend to all, and a caregiver to anyone in need. A passion was spending time with her family and friends, especially attending her mother and residents in nursing care and just being with her husband and daughter.   An avid gardener of flowers and vegetables, she planted rows of zinnias and sunflowers around to decorate the vegetable garden. A favorite activity was arranging them with flowers from her home garden and taking them to friends and nursing homes. Her corn, green beans, and okra, along with baked country ham were hits at family gatherings. Her specialty was macaroni and cheese and was a “must have” for all ages.   Kay never left home without giving treats to her dogs. Wally and Kay always hosted the family Christmas Party and Mother’s Day dinners at their farm.   The family will visit with friends Friday, June 7 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.   The family suggests memorials may be made to Maury Regional Foundation, 1224 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.   The family expresses a special thanks to Dr. Mark Messenger and staff of the Cancer Center at Maury Regional Medical Center and Dr. Denise Yardley and staff of Sarah Cannon Cancer Center.
