Kelly Able Collins, 77, resident of Lasea Road, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jack White and Ewing Neelley officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Kelly H. Collins and Annie Harper Collins. He was a retired forklift operator with Union Carbide and was a member of the Tennessee Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with friends. Mr. Collins was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ. He is survived by a son, Doyle (Sandy) Collins of Columbia; two grandchildren, Brandon Collins of Southbury, CT and Sasheene (Gideon) Bostwick of Mt. Pleasant; an aunt, Ruby Shaw of Columbia; niece, Melba (Wayne) McDaniel and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Leona "Rena" Hardison Collins, a brother, James Collins and two sisters, Pallen Miller and Earlene Brannon. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ring, Homer Lee Ring, Billy Dean Chesnut, Steve Marshall, Cody Ingram, Harold Delk, Jay Burns and Dale Ring. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Cummins Couch, Karen Perry, Lynn Dobbins, Carolyn Moore, Jimmy Hanson, Jimmy Fralix, Ben Gary, Kyle Hulen, members of New Lasea Church of Christ and the staff at NHC Hillview.
