Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Ragsdale, 66, former employee of Union Carbide and resident of Summertown, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at St. Thomas West Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral with Reverend Herb Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born October 29, 1952 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Jessie Ragsdale and the late Bessie Kelley Ragsdale. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. An avid outdoors man, Mr. Ragsdale loved fishing, gardening, watching Swamp People, Westerns, and War movies. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his dogs. He was of Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, whom he married November 17, 1994, Linda Marie Lewis Ragsdale of Summertown; daughter, Kim Walters of Lewisburg; son, David Ragsdale of Columbia; grandchildren, Tyler Walters, Chelsie Walters both of Lewisburg; siblings, Sheila (William) Kuner of Gasden, Alabama; Kathy Wray of Cornersville; several nieces and nephews; step daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Haley of Murfreesboro; step son, Robert (Malia) Newkirk of Woodbury; and step grandchildren, Crystal Haley of Murfreesboro; David Haley of Murfreesboro; Teresa Newkirk of Germany; and Austin Bobo of Culleoka. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Iris Kelley, Marie Sclafani, Cindy Floyd, Ester Potts, Narvie McCandless, Omie Potts; and brothers, Frank Ragsdale, James Ragsdale, Doug Ragsdale, and Truman Ragsdale. Active pallbearers will be Mike Ragsdale, Tyler Walters, Robert Newkirk, Brian Haley, Tim Richter, and Randy Whitehead.
