Kenneth Wayne Townsend, 55, retired from E. M. Grubbs Sheet Metal, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his residence on Bailey Street. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. EST at the Miller Cemetery in Roan Mountain, Tennessee with Pastor Doug Caldwell and Rev. Mike Nixon officiating. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Earl Townsend and Edith Wray Townsend. He was a member of the Church of the Living God in Bethel. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Killen "Pat" Townsend of Columbia; a step-daughter, LaDonna (Bobby) Haygood of Athens, Alabama; three step-grandchildren, Barry McKinney of Huntsville, Alabama, David (Rhonda) McKinney and Bradley McKinney, both of Athens, Alabama; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Neeley of Kingsport, and Martha Lee Davis of Elizabethton; three brothers, Donald "Don" Townsend of Johnson City, James (Alma) Townsend of Martinsville, Virginia, and Bobby Townsend of Johnson City; an aunt, Willie Trivett of Martinsville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
