Mrs. Mary Katherine "Kitty" Maddux Dealy Brown, 84, longtime resident of Alicia Lane, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Monday April 21, 2008 at Oakes & Nichols with Dr. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Ralph Guest Maddux and Beulah Roddy Maddux. Kitty attended schools in Columbia and was a 1943 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated from Columbia Business College. On February 14, 1946, she married retired Lt. Colonel Jack Dealy, decorated U.S. Army-Air Corps pilot. Mr. Dealy was City Editor of the Columbia DAILY HERALD for several years following his World War II service, and later served as the first Public Information Officer for the Military Department of the State of Tennessee. He died in 1979. In 1985, Mrs. Dealy married H. Roger Brown who died in 1987. In 1962 she became the first Executive Secretary for United Way of Columbia and remained in the position until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. Kitty was active in civic and community affairs including membership in the Tennessee Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. While serving as Vice-President of Maury County Chapter, APTA, she was instrumental in the publication of the first edition of MAJESTIC MIDDLE TENNESSEE. Kitty was also a member of the James K. Polk Association and Graymere Ladies Golf Association. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Dealy Bolton and her husband, Rick Bolton; grandchildren, Mary Margaret Bolton and Ben Bolton; sister, Louise Maddux Rayburn; brother, Ralph Guest Maddux, Jr. all of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Sarah Sands Maddux of Nashville and Emily Dealy (Phil) Lee of Nashville; brothers-in-law, William A. Dealy of Hendersonville, N. C. and James P. Dealy of Fairhope, Alabama; nephews, Dr. Taylor Rayburn, Bobby Maddux, Lewis Maddux, Zeke Maddux, Naval Commander David Dealy (ret), Dan Dealy, Bill Dealy,and Harv Goranson; nieces, Mary Claire Holzapfel, Sherry Maddux Shouse, Cindy Maddux, Cathy Dealy Cowan, Nancey Dealy Jennings, Patty Dealy Banks, and Gayla Dealy Gentry; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.She was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Maddux and Lewis W. Maddux.Active pallbearers are Bobby Maddux, Lewis Maddux, Zeke Maddux, Zack Maddux, Luke Maddux, Everett Holzapfel, and Chad Preston.Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Taylor Rayburn, Dr. Steve Simmons, Dr. Campbell Sowell, Chaddy Baker, Waymon Hickman, Joe Lancaster, John "Buddy" Fisher, W. H. Pigg, Jr., William B. West, Guy Odom, Ernest Allen, and the Wednesday and Thursday Bridge Clubs. The family expresses special appreciation to the Respiratory Care Group, Dr. Erik J.
