Mr. Lester Arden "L. A." Walker, Jr., 76, retired from Occidental Chemical Corporation with 28 years service and long-time farmer in the Williamsport Community, died Saturday, October 28, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Lester Arden Walker, Sr. and Vermon Olive Walker. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. He was a long-time member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Dyche Walker of Williamsport; two sons, William Jeffery Walker and Rocky Hall of Columbia; two daughters, Sheryl (Royce) Reed of Columbia and Rhonda (Michael) Dale of Williamsport; five grandchildren, Stephanie Walker, Wesley Walker, Rocky Hall, Jr., Ashlee Dale and Rainey Hall. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Walker, July 31, 1978 and two sisters, Marjorie Ann Walker and Mildred Davis. Active pallbearers are Ricky Cleveland, Carl Harris, Jr., Gary Williams, Carl Kelley, Charles Dale and Willis "Sonny" Jones. Honorary pallbearers include James Russell, Joe Foster, Sam Marlow, Manson Morrow, Bill Fly, James Hillin and retirees of Occidental Chemical Corporation.
