View Funeral Webcast Larry Ford Thomas, 95, retired Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and resident of Columbia, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at Polk Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born January 6, 1925 in Smith County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Melvin Thomas and the late Willie Geneva Dillard Thomas. He was a graduate of Gordonsville High School and earned his degree from Cumberland University Law School. Mr. Thomas served in the United States Army during War World II. He was wounded in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of West End Baptist Church and American Legion Post 19. Survivors include wife, Lillimae Hester Thomas; daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Edward) Kiely, Dr. Susan Thomas (Dawson) Gray; son, Lawrence Gray (Peggy) Thomas; stepsons, Les (Leslie) Hester, Benjamin (Tara) Hester, Bruce (Elfrena Foord) Hester; stepdaughter, Victoria (Alan) McCullough,; brother, Lewis Carroll (Marilou) Thomas; grandchildren, John Dawson Frierson Gray Jr., Thomas Pierce Gray, Jennifer Stephens; great grandchildren, Chloe Rayne Cassady, Virginia Lindsay Gray. Step-grandchildren, Andrew Hester, Jonathan Hester-McCullough, Megan Hester-McCullough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Irene Gray Thomas; sister, Adelyn Kerr Thomas Jackson; stepson, Joseph William Hester.
