View Funeral Webcast Mr. Larry Alexander Johnson, 71, retired Nazarene preacher, and a resident of Hilltown Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Andrews and Reverend Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Potts Cemetery in the Kinderhook Community of Maury County. Funeral services will be webcasted live at www.oakesandnichols.com. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 26, 1948 in Maury County, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Johnson and the late Blanche Vestal Johnson. He was ordained on August 10, 2001 in the Church of the Nazarene. He retired from APCOM, and previously worked for Burner Systems, Southern Logistics, and Essex Corporation. His passion was gospel music, attending gospel singings, the church, following and studying God’s word. He attended Knob Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Judy Whitley Johnson, whom he married on July 27, 1990; one brother, Leonard Johnson (Elaine) of Tony, Alabama; four sisters, Pat Johnson of Columbia, Lavell Ridner (Leslie) of Waynesboro, TN, Jolene Brooks of Castalian Springs, TN, and Sandra Hendrix of Haleyville, AL; brother-in-law, Eugene Whitley (Ann) of Columbia, a special and lifelong friend, World War II veteran, Reverend Howard Alexander; and Larry’s faithful pet dog, Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Claude Johnson; five sisters, Gladys Hopson, Joyce Kline, Ann Berry, Mary Cooper, and Lavonia Ward. Pallbearers will be Shane Johnson, Aniken Johnson, Lennox Johnson, C.H. Hutchinson, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Andy Whitley, John Michael Whitley, and Avery Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Knob Creek Baptist Church, New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church and the First Church of the Nazarene.
