Larry Wayne Watson

Larry Wayne Watson, 67, retired equipment operator for Teledyne, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his residence on Napier Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joey Skinner and Brother James Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from to 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to American Lung Association, 1 Vantage Way, Suite C120, Nashville, TN 37228 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Malcom Russell Watson and the late Naomi Whittaker Watson. Mr. Watson was a hard worker, enjoyed westerns, loved spending time with family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was of Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Debra Lynn "Debbie" Scott Watson of Columbia; son, Paul (April) Watson of Columbia; granddaughters, Kristin Watson and Makenzie Watson both of Columbia; step-son, Joey (Jamie) Skinner of Chapel Hill; step-daughter, Melanie (Jason) Spitzley of Chapel Hill; brother, Doris (Polly) Watson of Columbia; sister, Betty Cox of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons, Bryton Spitzley, Aiden Spitzley, Camden Spitzley, Jordan Voss, Eli Skinner, Jase Manire, Madison Webb all of Chapel Hill; mother-in-law, Ruth Scott of Chapel Hill; sisters-in-law, Shirley Bunting of Michigan; Patty (Buddy) Willis of Belfast; Wanda Scott of Chapel Hill; brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Spires of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Ruth Spires Watson in 2000; four brothers and two sisters. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Kelley, Buddy Willis, Donnie Spires, Ryan Kelley, Jason Spitzley, Bryton Spitzley, James Ryan Kelley, and Eric Hillard. Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons and employees of Teledyne. The family would like to express a special thanks to Vanderbilt MICU, Dr. Ivan Robbins, Hospice Compassus, and Aimee Luna.
