Mrs. LaRue Harwell Green, 82, former long-time resident of Highland Avenue, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Malcolm Harwell and Mamie Sue McFarland Harwell. For a number of years she worked as a machine operator at Weather Tamer and Edric Manufacturing companies. She was married October 30, 1943 to Walden Green, who died September 4, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Harold) Capps of Columbia; a son, Larry (Janet) Green of Florence, Alabama; a sister, Sarah Smith of Pulaski; three brothers, Davis (Frankie) Harwell of Nashville, Andrew (Marie) Harwell of Evansville, Indiana, John Ed (Jean) Harwell of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Amy Graves, Rebecca (Joel) Ricketts, Matthew Capps, Gretchen (Eric) Pangle; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Ricketts, Landon Ricketts, Hunter Pangle, Sydney Pangle. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Harwell. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Linda Monroe and staffs of Alterra Sterling House and NHC Columbia.
