View Funeral Webcast Laura P. Beck, 85, homemaker and resident of Old Zion Road, died Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A funeral mass will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Born August 19, 1933 in Trieste, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Angelo Piazza and the late Cristina Maria Piazza. A loving wife, mother, and friend, Mrs. Beck enjoyed spending time with her family and volunteering in the community. She was a devout life-long Catholic and has been a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church ever since moving to Columbia. Survivors include her husband, Jerry W. Beck of Columbia; sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Beck, Bryan Beck; daughter, Jeanie (Dwight) Ledford; grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsey) Johnson, Katrana Beck, Christina Beck, Todd Beck, Emily Beck, Taylor Beck, Gunnar Beck, Nathan Donovan, Jacob Donovan; and nephews, Mark Piazza, and David Piazza. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Donovan; son, Ronald Beck; grandson, Benjamin Donovan; and brother, Bruno Piazza. Knights of Columbus will serve as active pallbearers.
