Laurel Levis-Doyle

September 5, 1955 — January 24, 2025

Savannah

Laurel Levis-Doyle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly with her husband and children by her side on January 24, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on September 5, 1955, to Cassius Nathan and Mary Irene Shumway.

Laurel married Thomas V. Doyle in 2001 after dating for 5 years. They were introduced by a mutual friend while enjoying a day spent boating on Seneca Lake. They went on to spend 24 amazing years together and loved each other deeply.

Laurel was an amazing mother to Kristi Levis Rogers (Scott Rogers), John (Jr) Levis III (Sarah Levis), and step-children Crystal Doyle (Michael Sarmiento) & Brent Doyle. She was a loving Mema to eight grandchildren: Lily & Calvin Rogers, Aiden & Owen Levis, Kailynn & Avalynn Doyle, Tyler Crough and Mykayla Sarmiento. She never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting and school events as well as supporting all of their hobbies. She was also the best big sister that anyone could ask for to: Nate (Laurie) Shumway, Luann (Jerry Updyke) Smith, Lorraine (Joe Bojczuk) Shumway, Beth (Cliff) McCann, and Scott (Darla) Shumway. She will also be remembered lovingly by her mother-in-law, Mary Ann Schu and her brother and sister-in-laws: Kevin (Kathy) Doyle, Richard (Julie) Doyle, Linda (Henry) D'Amato, Karen (Guy) Guthrie, Cheryl (Jay) Skinner and Mary Ellen Brownell.

Laurel attended Mynderse Academy high school and graduated in 1973. She continued her studies at Empire State University after the Seneca Army Depot closed and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After moving to Lehigh Acres, FL Laurel became a licensed Real Estate Agent and worked for Coldwell Banker where she was awarded Realtor of the Year in 2022 at their annual convention in Phoenix, AZ. She was also an active member of the Rotary Club where she happily donated countless hours to help with fundraising. Laurel and Tom split their time between their home in Lehigh Acres, FL and their cherished properties on the water in Waterloo, NY and Savannah, TN.

Outside of her professional life, Laurel enjoyed spending time on the water, gardening, flipping houses with her husband, as well as traveling to and exploring new places. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, bravery and unwavering love for her family. Her final act of generosity and selflessness was being an organ donor and she will live on through the 3 lives that she helped change.

Laurel was predeceased by her parents and father-in-law, Gerald Doyle.

Laurel Levis-Doyle will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

Per her wishes there will not be any services, but Celebrations of Life will take place in each community that she was a cherished member of. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to Donate Life America. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
