Lavonia Jone Lewis, 76, retired Registered Nurse for 27 years, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Humboldt. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born May 13, 1941, in Poinsett County, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Lewis and the late Lottie Earle Cooper Lewis. She was a graduate of Humboldt High School and Columbia State Community College Nursing School. Ms. Lewis was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames, and West 7th Street Church of Christ. She was a Master Gardener. Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Linda) Keeling of Humboldt; Samuel (Debbie) Avery of Colt Neck, New Jersey; daughters, Sherri Linn (Larry) Stevens of Smyrna; Melena Jone Keeling of Columbia; brothers, Curtis Lewis of Columbia; Thomas Earl (Brenda) Lewis of Huntingdon; sister, Phyllis (Henry) Humes of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Beau (Maria) Keeling; Blair (Lacey) Keeling; Robert Stevens; Brittany Stevens; Alayna Keeling; and six great grandchildren.The family would like to express a special thanks to all caregivers and friends.
