View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Lawrence David Cole, 80, former Psychotherapist, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Highland Church of Christ. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born October 13, 1940 at his childhood home in Plymouth, Michigan, he was the son of the late Paul David Cole and the late Beatrice Lawrencey Gadberry Cole. He was a graduate of Harding University and the University of Arkansas. For many years, he worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Larry and Gail served many years as foster parents for over 140 children in many counties. Mr. Cole also served as a counselor for the Tennessee Children’s Home. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivor include his loving wife, whom he married October 9, 1959, Gail Deace Cole of Columbia; children, Lisa (Scott) Williams, Lori (Cliff) Plummer, Sean (Lisa) Cole, Lynnette (Michael) O’Nan, Braxton Cole; grandchildren, Michael (Morgan) Haselhuhn, Heather Haselhuh, Shelby Williams, Trey Williams, Molly Plummer, Cole (Jasmine) Plummer, Olivia Plummer, Jordan (Kelsie) Cole, Brianna Cole, William Cole, Zachary Cole; great grandchildren, Sarah Bea Risner, Mason Risner, Elijah Haselhuhn, Avery Haselhuhn, Lorelei Plummer, Dylan Cole; and brothers, Jerry (Mary Jo) Cole and Dennis (Helen) Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter; and sister, Glynette.
