Ledie Jane Chapman Johnson

Mrs. Ledie Jane Chapman "Janie" Johnson, 68, resident of Chestnut Ridge Road in the Theta Community, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will be in Theta Baptist Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Lee Wall Chapman. She attended the Baptist Church. An active homemaker, Mrs. Johnson loved fishing and caring for her animals and flowers. Survivors include her husband, William M. "Sonny" Johnson, Sr. of Theta; seven step-children, Rose M. (Chris) Pritchett of Richmond, Virginia, Fay Hay of Columbia, William M. "Bill" (Barbara) Johnson, Jr. of Duck River, Robert Lee Johnson of Columbia, Donald Ray (Nelda) Johnson of Theta, Linda Johnson (James Chapman) of Columbia, Janice Marie (Ricky) Payne of Decatur, Alabama; two sisters, Darthy Tinsley and Ruthie (Chester) Howell, both of Theta; nineteen step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Denise Lee and Amanda Taylor, both of Theta. She was preceded in death by a sister, Arvie Lee Collins and a brother, O. C. Chapman. Active pallbearers are Amanda Taylor, William Johnson, Jr., Tommy Lee, Matthew Wilson, Tom Cheatham, and Jimmy Lancaster. Friends in the Theta Community will serve as honorary pallbearers.
