Mr. William Lemuel "Lem" Wagster, 89, retired pharmacist and resident of Sunnyside Drive, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dr. James Hughes and Rev. David Harkness officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Ottie D. Wagster and Thenia Welch Wagster. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School and the Atlanta School of Pharmacy. While serving in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, he was stationed in San Angelo, Texas from 1942 - 1946 where he was a medic and became the personal aid to the Commanding Officer. Mr. Wagster owned and operated Wagster Drug Store in Mt. Pleasant and received a citation from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy for sixty years service from 1939 - 1999. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant and Columbia, where he was a Sunday School teacher, lay leader, and a certified lay speaker in the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Imogene Hyatt Wagster of Columbia; one daughter, Mary Wagster (Randall) Lunn of Columbia; two grandchildren, Carmen Lunn and Amber Lunn, both of Columbia; very special friend, Tina Finney of Covington, Louisiana; nieces and nephews, Richard S. Wagster of Columbia; John (Linda Lou) Wagster and Elizabeth (Richard ) Henson, both of Nashville; Wanny Wagster (Ashley) Hogewood of Charlotte, North Carolina; Carol Wagster (George) Williamson of New York City, New York; Kathy Wagster; and cousin, Sarah Edde Welch of Petersburg, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Jean Elizabeth Wagster; sister, Elizabeth Roaf, and two brothers, John D. Wagster and David Nicholas Wagster. Pallbearers will be Richard Wagster, Sam Wagster, John Wagster, Johnny Wagster, Pruitt Hyatt, Steve Hyatt, Dennis Haynes, Will Haynes, Ted Sisco, Charley Bassham, Tim Lunn, Wayne Lunn, Ashley Hogewood, and George Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Sunday School Class, Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Dr. C. W. Ball, Dr. Douglas Kennedy, Dr. Lucy Ledbetter, Rick Molder, Eddie Baker, Bobby Harris, Ethelene Mayes, Ruby and Margaret Grandberry, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Shackelford, Mrs. Betty Jo Hardy, Mrs. Jean Wilmer, and Edward Moore.
