Leon CollierVideo Memories of Mr. Leon Collier Jesse Leon Collier, 75, retired employee of Dupont and resident of New Lewisburg Highway, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 900 West Seventh Street, Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Everette Collier and Lillian Watson Collier. He was married to Geneva Rodgers Collier who preceded him in death on September 21, 2004. Mr. Collier served in the U. S. Air Force and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Before his employment at Dupont, he had owned a restaurant, and worked at Morgan Brothers, Foremost Dairies, and Sunbeam Bread Company.He owned Leon's Used Lawnmowers and Small Equipment. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, the Berean Sunday School Class, and Dupont Breakfast Club. Survivors include one daughter, Candace Collier of Columbia; one son, Jeffrey Leon (Melodie) Collier of Lebanon; one sister, Virginia Sands of Columbia; and two grandsons, Luke Collier and Andrew Collier. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Collier and James Collier. Pallbearers will be Luke Collier, Andrew Collier, Tommy Bone, Tommy Cook, Mike King, and Kenny Latta. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Overstreet, Dewey Latta, J. B. Long, Tom McGrew, Raymond Sands, Jerry Price, Johnny Rodgers, Jimmy Rodgers, Rodger Demastus, Tommy Speed, R. B. Sands, Wayne Hickman, Hodge Cook, Matthew King, Stephen Latta, Cliff Loftin, Wayne Collier, Sonny Collier and deacons of West End Baptist Church.
