Leon Beryl Johnson

Mr. Leon Beryl Johnson, 80, retired from Reece Corporation and a resident of Oaks Road in Ethridge, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Countryside Healthcare and Rehab in Lawrenceburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dan Buie officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Peoria, Illinois native was the son of the late Lincoln Beryl Johnson and Emma Viola Applegate Johnson. He was a graduate of Xenia High School in Xenia, IL and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Marie Williams Johnson of Ethridge; two sons, Dan (Wendy) Johnson of Illinois, Vernon (Gail) Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Diane Johnson of Missouri; one brother, Kenneth Johnson of Xenia, IL; 9 grandchildren; and four step-children, David Smith, Jr., Richard Smith, Jeff Smith and Tammy Payne; and 9 step-grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
