View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute Leon Walters, 97, longtime farmer and resident of Columbia; died Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born May 3, 1923 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Bracken Hensley Walters and the late Lillian McKee Walters. On April 3, 1943, he married Mildred Sneed Walters who preceded him in death February 10, 2021. Mr. Walters was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Gail (Al Plank) Ledford of Columbia; Karen Walters of Pulaski; sons, Buster (Pat) Walters of Columbia; Mike (Sandra) Walters of Columbia; brother, Billy (Peggy) Walters of Columbia; grandchildren, Ronnie Jack of Jackson; Teresa Jack Johnson of Henderson; Winston (Jessie) Walters of Columbia; great grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Courtney (Aaron) Brown, Cassie (Austin) Moseley, Chase Johnson, Ellie Walters, Jase Walters; great great granddaughter, Millie Kate Brown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kay Jack; brothers, Ralph Walters, Howard Walters, Raymond Walters, Bracken Walters, Jr.; and sisters, Sarah Walters Stanfill, Polly Walters Strickland, and Bettie Walters Little. Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers include Larry Weaver, Gary Jack, and members of Knob Creek Baptist Church.
