Leonard M. Johnson, Jr., 78, retired employee of Woods Cabinet Distribution in Nashville and longtime resident of Nashville, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsport Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. He served in the United States Air National Guard. The 1955 graduate of Columbia Central High School served as captain of the football team and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Graymere. Survivors include his brother, Earl Johnson of Williamsport; nephews, Don (Tammye) Harlan of Franklin, David (Lorraine) Harlan of Jackson; nieces, Lynnette (Trey) Fitts and Amy (Scott) Cranford both of Franklin; three great nephews; and two great nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Janette Johnson Harlan. Active pallbearers will be Don Harlan, David Harlan, Campbell Harlan, Carter Cranford, Matthew Harlan, Trey Fitts, and Scott Cranford. Honorary pallbearers include the Columbia Central High School Class of 1955.
