MR. LEROY S. THURMAN Mr. Leroy Smith Thurman, 88, retired foreman for Campbell & Due Construction Company, farmer and resident of Covey Hollow Road, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David McGregor and Brother Jack White officiating. Burial will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Academy. He was a member of the McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Barlar Thurman of Culleoka; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dennis Jones of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Connie Thurman of Columbia; a sister, Jean Hood of Santa Fe; two sister-in-law, George Ann Thurman of Columbia, Dolly Davis of Wilson, North Carolina; four grandsons, Caleb Thurman, Jeremiah Jones, Cody Jones and Trenton Jones all of Columbia. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma J. Beaver and Lottie R. Lancaster; a brother, James L. Thurman; two half-sisters, Lacy Williamson and Lillie Thurman Weatherford; a half-brother, Marshall Thurman. Pallbearers are Doug Howell, Gary Howell, Don Howell, Gene Howell, Jim Thurman, Larry Thurman, William Ervin Thurman, J. C. Lancaster, Buddy Lancaster, Jeff Lancaster, Paul Breeden, Denny Beaver, Tim Beaver, Wayne Austin, Warren Austin, and Ernie Austin.
