Mrs. Lillian Maye Martin Davis, 93, a resident of Columbia for the past four years, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 a.m._at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Jerry Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home. A native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Martin and Maye Parrott Martin Claiborne. She attended Lambuth College in Jackson and later graduated from Bethel College in McKenzie. She was a member of Alph Delta Kappa Sorority and the Jackson Women's Club. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Forest Heights United Methodist Church in Jackson and was active in the affairs of Sunday School and the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neill Davis, in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Jerry) Dodson of Columbia and Rita Davis of Jackson; four grandchildren, Julie Dodson and Steven Dodson of Columbia, Whitney Owen and Austin Owen of Jackson; two sisters, Louise Armour and Hazel Moyer of Jackson; a niece, Bettye Metcalf of Jackson; two nephews, Phil Sims and Jerry Sims.
