View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Linda Lea Grimes Colley, age 78, wife of the late Jerry Colley, of Columbia passed away June 1, 2021 at her residence on Pimlico Place surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted June 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lory Catlett officiating. A private burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery in Hickman County. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born December 16, 1942 in San Bernadino, California raised in Greene, Iowa until age 5 before moving to Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late James Burch Grimes and the late Eleanor Maxine “Lovell” Grimes of Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Spring Hill High School, attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated from Flannery and Mays Cosmetology School. She worked as a Cosmetologist for 55 years and retired in 2019. She owned and managed Maury Beauty School in Columbia, Tennessee from 1969 to 1986. At the same time Linda owned and operated her own beauty salon from 1973 to 1992. Linda traveled the world as a National Performing Artist for Redken NYC and was a highly-sought seminar instructor in the United States and Canada. In 1985, she received the Redken Victor Award, an annual award for excellence and devotion to professionalism in the beauty industry. Linda was appointed to the State Board of Cosmetology in September 2004. She served as the Chairperson from December 2004 to January 2008; Chair until October 2009 when she was elected Chair again and remained Chair until June 2014. Proud to be lifelong Democrat, Linda was the Chair of the Maury County Democratic Party for 10 years. Sharing a love of travel and adventure, Linda and her husband Jerry visited many countries around the world. They both loved a good horse race and a spin around the dance floor. She loved being with her beloved Jerry, working in the garden, going to the beach, and spending and with her family and grandchildren. Linda was a stylish, strong, loving woman and will be greatly missed. Linda was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbia. Linda was treasured and so loved by her children and step children: daughter Kim Fogg (Todd) Curry of Duck River, TN; son Jason (Cynthia) Fogg of Franklin, TN. Step children: daughter Leslie Colley of Santa Fe, New Mexico, son John (Elizabeth) Colley of Williamsport, TN, son Drake (Susan) Colley of Columbia, TN, Sarah (Mike Mikula) Colley of Atlanta, GA, son Jerry Colley of Cincinnati, Ohio. Grandchildren: Michael Curry, Lindsey (Peyton) Risner, Tori Curry, Meghan Perkins, Jonah Fogg, McKensey Fogg. Step grandchildren: Haley Colley, Tom Colley, Samantha Colley, Dixie Emmy Colley, Donovan Mikula, Tate Mikula, Sophia Colley, Audrey Colley, Atticus Colley. Great granddaughter: Luna Fogg, soon to be addition Hayes Risner and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, sister in-law Johnnie (Charles) Wells of Brentwood, Tennessee, Special Friends of Pimlico Place, Diane Weatherford and Pam Morrow. Preceded in Death by Loving Husband Jerry Colley, mother, father and Special Sister Alice Kaye Adams Clark. Pallbearers: Jonah Fogg, Michael Curry, Tom Colley, Mike Mikula, Todd Curry, Drake Colley, and Jerry Colley, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Maury County Democratic Party, Members of Bruce Strothers’s Sunday school class and co-workers of Lords n Ladies and Cliques Salon.
