Linda Faye Gemmell, 70, retired owner and operator of Spring Hill Liquors and resident of Apache Trail, died Friday, July 22, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend David Sawyer and Pastor Mark Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 -7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Clayton L. Gemmell, Jr. and Ruby Gemmell Cowherd. She was very active in many activities of the Columbia Central High School Class of 1964 and attended Columbia State Community College. For thirteen years she worked at Regions Bank where she retried in 2015. Ms. Gemmell was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, the Maury County Historical Society, and the America Legion Auxiliary Post #19. Survivors include her sister, Donna Oliver of La Vergne; uncle, William "Bill" (Kathleen) Gemmell of Columbia; aunt, Violet Watson of Columbia; and several cousins. Active pallbearers will be Pat Smith, Sonny Willis, Willie Beech, Donnie Fitzgerald, Al Pye, Michael Langley, and George Jones. Honorary pallbearers include Julia Pettus, Dinah Hazelwood, Donna Walters, Patricia Bryant, Delilah Speed, Debbie Culberson, Phyllis Thomson, Krista Martin, Uncle Bill Gemmell, and Columbia Central High School Class of 1964.
