MRS. LINDA GILLENWATER Mrs. Linda Sue Young Gillenwater, 55, retired bookkeeper at Mitchell Oil Company, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Glendale, California. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Butt officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of Irene Boyd Young Bacon of Columbia and the late James Porter Young. She graduated with honors from Columbia Central High School and attended David Lipscomb University and The University of Tennessee where she was also an honor student. She was a member of the Baptist church in Glendale, California where she made her home for over twenty years. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, David Gillenwater of Glendale, California; two sisters, Peggy Young Bryan (John) McCoy of Jackson, Rosemary Young (Eddie) King of Columbia; one brother, James Allen (Patsy) Young of Columbia; her 103 year old grandmother, Irvie Lou Young Hardison of Columbia; mother-in-law, Aleen Pierson Gillenwater of Gray; sister-in-law, Teresa Susan Gillenwater (John, II) Deacons of Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
