Linda “Lin” Runner Taylor, 71, retired educator and resident of Lyon Street, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Father Chris Bowhay and The Rev. Father Thomas S. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Churchyard. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born March 12, 1947 in Camden, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late John Runner and the late Claire Josephine Strang Dixon. Lin was a 1965 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, New Jersey and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lambuth College. She began her teaching career with five years at Finnegan Elementary School in Duvall County, Florida. After relocating to Tennessee, she was associated with Maury County Board of Education for thirty-five years, teaching 1st and 2nd grades at Mt. Pleasant Elementary and J. E. Woodard Elementary. She was an excellent cook and loved collecting lighthouses. She loved her cat “Midnight”. She was a member of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she had served on the Altar Guild. Survivors include her husband of forty-nine years, James Albert “Jim” Taylor whom she married June 7, 1969; sons, Robert (Jennifer) Taylor of Lindale, Texas and Andrew Taylor of Columbia; brother, John Runner of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Jayden Gregory, Courtney Gregory, Amariah Gregory, Elisha Gregory; niece, Christina Runner of Columbia; and brothers-in-law, Tom Taylor of Jackson and Bill Taylor of Nashville.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Dixon.Active pallbearers will be Randy Miller, Tony Brown, Dustin Diefenbach, and Matt Heithcock. Honorary pallbearers will include the retired teachers of J. E. Woodard Elementary School.
