View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Linda Mai Briggs Palmer, 72, resident of Old Highway 31 South in Columbia, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Amos Briggs and Tommie Pauline Moore Briggs. She retired from USA Today and had previously worked for Storktown and Weather Tamer. Mrs. Palmer was of Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter, Paula Lynn Adkins of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Judy Staggs of Nashville; grandchildren, Joshua Adkins, Dalton Adkins, Briana Staggs, and Faith Staggs; great grandchildren, Alex McGaw and Jamie McGaw; brothers, Donald (Lynda) Briggs of Columbia; Tommy (Donna) Briggs of Florence, Alabama; Joe (Linda) Briggs of Culleoka; William (Gisela) Briggs of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Leroy (Julie) Briggs of Casper, Wyoming; god daughter, Lou Ann Hall; god grandchildren, Jeffery Hall and Matthew Fowler; god great grandchild, Cooper Fowler; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Eugene Staggs on January 2, 2015. Active pallbearers will be Burt Briggs, Troy Briggs, Joe Amos Briggs, Josh Adkins, Dalton Adkins, Jonathan Holt, Keith Dixon, and Daniel Holt.
