View Funeral WebcastLinda Kay Potts, 69, owner-operator of Potts Grocery, died Friday, January 19, 2018 at her residence on New Highway 7.Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday 2:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 11:00 A.M. to service time at the funeral home. Linda and her twin brother, Ray, were born July 15, 1948 in the building now known as the Santa Fe Diner to the late Wilburn Leonard Potts and the late Robbie Allen Gunnells Potts. She was a 1966 graduate of Santa Fe High School, where she exceled in basketball and was the first Lady Wildcat to shoot a jump shot. She attended Columbia Business College and worked and ran Potts' Grocery for over 50 years. Linda loved her family unconditionally. She never married and had natural children, but she filled the shoes of a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and best friend to many. Linda had a special love for flowers and animals, especially dogs and cats. She was very dedicated to the Santa Fe Community and always made sure everyone had what they needed and donated to the community every chance she got. All who knew Linda loved her and she loved them. At the age of 16, Linda became a committed member of Santa Fe Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk and Sunday School teacher of all ages for many years. She loved her church and serving the Lord. Survivors include her brothers, Wilburn (Colleen) Potts of Santa Fe; R.L. Potts of Santa Fe; Dean (Catherine) Potts of Columbia; Billy (Brenda) Potts of Santa Fe; Ray (Edna) Potts of Santa Fe; and Danny (Virginia) Potts of Santa Fe; nieces and nephews, Barry (Regina) Potts of South Carolina; Jerry (Tonjia) Potts of Santa Fe; Nancy (Benny) Ayers of Columbia; Janet (Jerry) Hubbell of Columbia; Jackie Potts Skelley of Chapel Hill; Dannette (Bryan) George of Santa Fe; Joey (Dianna) Potts of Santa Fe; Jason (Melissa) Potts of Santa Fe; and Kerrie (Bucky) Rowland of Williamsport; several great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Sherry Borne; Vickie Steward; and Debbie James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Potts; and sisters-in-law, Omie Potts; Esther Ragsdale Potts; and B.J. Potts; and nephew, Terry Potts.
