Mrs. Lizzie Brown Church Brooks, 100, widow of William Hughes Brooks, long-time principal of Culleoka High School, died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at her residence on Sheddan Drive. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 392, Columbia, TN 38402. She was a long-time member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brooks was an excellent homemaker, an accomplished seamstress and also loved knitting, crocheting, doll-making, ceramics, macrame', and all kinds of crafts. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (W. O. "Sonny") Thomas of Columbia; a grandson, Mark Brooks Thomas of Cookeville; sisters-in-law, Sue Church of Columbia and Orene Rittenberry of Nashville; nieces and nephews, Faye Church Borum of Columbia, Doug (Frankie) Church of Cross Bridges, Jennifer Church Alley of Columbia, Jeannie Church (Wayne) Prince of Centerville, Patricia Patton Hart of Ocala, Florida, Mike (Gayle) Goodman of Waverly, Oneida Brooks Hanson of Columbia, Ethel Mary Vick Shultz of Pigeon Forge, Doug (Judy) Vick of Culleoka, Jennette Vick (Bobby) Lovell of Columbia, Linda Vick of Columbia, Barbara Keith (Freddie) Travis of White Bluff, and Melba Keith of Nashville; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and very special caregiver and friend, Janet Estes. She was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Church Patton and Ella Mae Church Goodman and brothers, Arthur Church and Joe Church. Pallbearers are Mark Thomas, Doug Church, Steve Kindler, Mike Goodman, Doug Vick, Petey Payne, and other family members.
