Mr. Lonnie Franklin Sharp, 86, died Monday, August 14, 2006 at Hidden Acres Health Care in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted at 10a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Kelley and Bro. Joe Rhodes officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 10:00a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Arlington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 606 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Annie Sharp. He was married to Opal Irene Chatman Sharp who preceded him in death November 27, 1985. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Sharp was retired from Mobile Chemical Co. and Maury County Highway Department. Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Jean Cates and Cathy (Thomas) McNabb both of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Gary Walton (Deborah) Sharp and Donald "Duck" (Sharon) Sharp both of Columbia; one sister, Nettie Mae Woolfre of New Mexico; three grandchildren that he reared, Lisa Kicklighter, Floyd Cates, Tim Cates, and five additional grandchildren, Amber Sharp, Tia Sharp, Donna Chapman, Christy Cummins, Billy Sharp; and several special great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, William Franklin Sharp and Charles Monroe Sharp. Pallbearers will be T. K. Kicklighter, Floyd Cates, Tim Cates, Jim Carpenter, Riley McWilliams and Mike Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Arnold, Teresa Carpenter, Charles Dale, the staffs at Hidden Acres Health Care and GAMBRO Dialysis, Dr. R. Douglas Kennedy, Dr. Suellen Lee and Dr. Lucy Ledbetter.
