Lori Elliott Buchanan, 64, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at her home in Clarksville. Lori was the daughter of Lurline Meador Elliott and the late Fred Woodard Elliott. Survivors include her son, Jonathan Elliott Buchanan (Heather), grandsons Brayden, Shane, and Gabriel, granddaughters Karalyn and Skylar, and her sister Linda Elliott, all of Clarksville. Lori graduated from Central High School in Columbia and the University of North Carolina. She earned a Master’s degree in Library Science at Indiana University and a doctorate (Ed. D.) at Western Kentucky at Bowling Green. She was a library professor for 33 years - Professor of Library Administration (1986-2019) and Interim Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (2014-2015) at Austin Peay State University. Emeritus 2019. Lori enjoyed reading, playing sports, traveling, and spending time with her family. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, June 7 at 11:30 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens, 6465 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401 with Reverend Jim Norton and Reverend Steven Douglas officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time. We will also memorialize Fred Woodard Elliott, her father, who passed away during the pandemic. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
