Mr. Lucien O'Neal "Lou" Sherrill, 89, owner and operator of Sherrill's Pool Room and resident of South High Street, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Hurst and Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday after 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Bonnertown, Alabama native was the son of the late Rivers O. Sherrill and Ella Jane Williams Sherrill. He was married for forty-five years to Loraine Turner Sherrill who preceded him in death April 5, 2002. He was a graduate of Loretto High School. Mr. Sherrill served in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines, Normandy and Guadalcanal and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Big Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include ten nieces and nephews, Amaryllis Ingrum of Columbia, Jane Cannada of Smyrna, Emily Siciensky of Theta, Molly Tate of LaVergne, Larry Sherrill of Orlando, Florida, Louis Sherrill of Ashland City, Carolyn Lund of Ridgetop, Tere' Sherrill of Columbia, Sandra Chapell of Chapel Hill, Linda Hewitt of Roswell, New Mexico; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by one son, Clay O'Neal Sherrill, two sisters, Irene Hale, Louise Hewitt and four brothers, Oliver Sherrill, W.D. Sherrill, Milton Sherrill and Austin Sherrill. Pallbearers will be nephews, Larry Sherrill, Louis Sherrill, Tere' Sherrill, John Ingrum, Wayne Hale, Ronnie Jones and Harlan Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Walker, Richard and Linda Bradford, friends and members at Big Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church, caregivers at Maury Regional Hospital and at Life Care Center.
