MRS. LUCILE TAYLOR Mrs. Lucile Bridges Taylor, 82, retired school teacher and resident of Woods Drive, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Newell officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee, with Dr. Vincent Walkup officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the church. The Carroll County native was the daughter of the late Thomas W. Bridges and Allie Horn Bridges. On May 18, 1945, she married Rev. James F. Taylor, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 26,1999. Her early years were spent in Henderson and Jackson, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Jackson High School, Lambuth University, and did graduate work from Middle Tennessee State University. Mrs. Taylor taught school for thirty years with nineteen years from 1964 - 1983 teaching Business Vocational Education at Columbia Central High School. She was a member of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association where she served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of Jane Knox Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and James Madison Sparkman Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, where she served as Treasurer for the Tuesday Circle of Riverside United Methodist Women. Survivors include three sons, James (Linda) Taylor of Columbia; Thomas Taylor of Jackson; William "Bill" Taylor of Nashville; three sisters, Carrie B. Malachowski of Columbia; Faye B. Walkup of Clarksville; Mary B. Lewis of Loomis, California; one brother, Albert P. (Joyce) Bridges of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Robert Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Joy Taylor, Beth Taylor, and Tommy Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Maury County Retired Teachers Association and the Tuesday Circle of Riverside United Methodist Women.
