Lucille Owens Vick

March 22, 1931 — August 10, 2018

Mrs. Lucille Owens Vick, 87, retired seamstress, retired employee of Tennessee Farm Bureau, and former resident of Brookside Drive, died Friday, August 10, 2018 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Gwin and Reverend William Thomas Owens, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or The American Diabetes Association, Memorial & Honor Program, P. O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 22, 1931 in Giles County, she was the oldest of nine children born to late the William Thomas Owens, Sr. and the late Daisey Stofel Owens. On July 30, 1949, she married Robert Smith Vick, Jr. who preceded her in death August 12, 2002. She was a 1949 graduate of Campbellsville High School. For many years, she assisted her husband in the family business, Vick’s Furniture and Upholstery as an Upholstery Seamstress. For 14 years, she worked for Farm Bureau in the cafeteria. After retirement, she sewed drapes, bedspreads, and upholstery for her son, Ronnie’s clients.  She was a well-known excellent seamstress with no boundaries and known for her beautiful iris’ and daylilies. Affectionally and lovingly known as Aunt Lucy to her many nieces and nephews on the Vick side being the last of 23 in-laws. Mrs. Vick was a member of Collegeview Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Larry S. (Debbie) Vick of Spring Hill; Ronnie Vick of Columbia; Elaine Vick of Columbia; brother, William Thomas (Billie Jean) Owens, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Shelby Jean Owens of Culleoka; Ann Owens of Columbia; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Beard of Santa Fe; Thomas (Sara) Vick of Santa Fe; Courtney McWilliams of Nashville; Blake McWilliams of Nashville; great grandchildren, Colton Vick; Jacob Beard; Caden Vick; Justin Beard; Chance Vick; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carolyn Barker;  and devoted friend, Juanita Taylor. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Lou Owens; Christine Parker; Mary Casteel; and brothers, George Owens; Robert Owens; Leroy Owens; and James Michael Owens. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Vick, Roy Vick, Jerry Vick, Jimmy Vick, Tim Owens, David Parker, Bobby Parker, and Bobby Fox. Honorary pallbearers include 7 remaining classmates of the 1949 class of Campbellsville High School, Patsy Keeton Hamlett, Mary Helton Dickey, Mary Francis Inman White, Ruth Carden Dunnavant, Herb Helton, Bobby McMeen, and John Bottoms.
